Night Flight Fall League 99
Championship Game Results:
The Gang 17
Little Piggies 13
Reclaiming their place atop the Night Flight standings, the Gang avenged their loss to the Piggies in last year's championship game, as well as a loss in their regular season matchup this fall. The Gang took the first half 9-7, and although the Piggies stayed close, they couldn't close the gap in the second half. The Gang capitalized on key defensive plays by Blaine and Chris, critical catches by Jose, consistently stellar play by Teddy Jr., and even an appearance by wily veteran, team coach, and Godfather of Rochester Ultimate...Teddy Sr.

All teams have eight games during the season. Teams play each team in their division during the first five weeks to determine seeding for the playoffs. The top 8 teams (the upper division plus the first two teams from the lower division) will playoff in standard single elimination format, with losing teams matched in consolation games. The remaining four teams will play a round robin schedule the final three weeks.

LEAGUE RULES
Games will be played 7 on 7 UNLESS a team only has 6 or 7 players, in which case the game will be 6 on 6.
Points are assessed at 1 per for every five minutes past start time either team does not have 6 on the line. The "field marshal" will let a captain know when they may begin assessing points. The "field marshal" will not automatically assess points the captain must request that the field marshal begin assessing points.
Disputes that cannot be settled by the captains will be settled by the "field marshal." The "field marshal" is the ultimate authority. Their decisions are final! Our primary field captains for this fall are Chris Mahan and Skip & Judy Newell. Additional field marshals will be named as needed.
NO OPEN CONTAINERS OF ALCOHOL ARE PERMITTED AT EITHER FIELD SITE! This is the policy of both the City of Rochester and the Town of Brighton. Please do not jeopardize our field permits!
All players must complete and sign a waiver form before they can play. Additional players may be added to the roster during the season, but only after a waiver is completed and signed! Any team who violates this rule is subject to immediate forfeit of that evenings game.
Resolve disputes that cannot be settled by the captains.
All games are timed:
- First Half: 40 minutes running time.
- Half Time: 5 minutes.
- Second Half: 39 minutes running time, 1 minute stopped time.
- Timeouts:
- Each team receives one time out per half plus one floating time out to use in either half.
- Time outs last one minute except during the final minute of a game.
- Timeouts during final minute of the game last 30 seconds. After 30 seconds the field marshal will announce that the timeout is over. If the disk has not been put in play 30 seconds after that, the field marshal will announce that the clock is starting. If the offense does not have possession of the disk, the defender marking the disk may call "disk in" and resume the stall count. The offense may pick up the disk, call "disk in", and resume play (no check).
- During stopped time, there is a hard cap at 1 minute before start of next game (unless the game is tied).
- If game is tied, play continues until a team scores (this is the ONLY case where play continues even if it reduces playing time for the time for the next game).
Except as stated here, the latest edition of the UPA rules applies (9th Edition with amendments).
Please note the new "pull" rules adopted in the fall of 1998 apply:
- The brick mark is 20 yards.
- If the pull is allowed to land (i.e. not caught) it is played as follows:
- If the pull lands out-of-bounds, the receiving team has the option of putting the disc into play:
- at the brick mark; or
- at the point on the playing field proper nearest where the disc went out-of-bounds; or
- halfway between the two sidelines at the point on the playing field proper nearest where the disc went out-of-bounds.
- If the pull lands in-bounds, then rolls out-of-bounds, the disc is put into play at the point on the playing field proper nearest where the disc went out-of-bounds (NOTE: The playing field proper is the playing field excluding the endzones).
- If the pull lands in-bounds and does not roll out-of-bounds, the disc must be put into play at the point where the disc comes to rest. (Note: existing rules allowing players to stop a rolling disc still apply.)
- If the pull is caught, the disc must be put into play at the point on the playing field nearest where the disc was caught.
- If either team is off-sides, the other team may request a re-pull. The request must be made immediately.
AND ABOVE ALL ELSE DONT FORGET TO KEEP UP THE SPIRIT!
