LEAGUE PARTY!!
We are having a party for both Sunday leagues this Saturday the 20th at The Keg, 315 Gregory st. You're welcome to drift in anytime, I'll be there by 9 to pass out free drinks (the cheap stuff, but they have a pretty broad selection). We're getting a DJ and something danceable later, by the 10 to 11 range. Some parking in the rear lot plus the side street. It's open party so anyone's welcome, though the free drinks are for people in one of the two Sunday leagues. Maybe open it up to all Grada towards the end if there's going to be leftover. Oh yes, they have decent (somewhat slow) food, though I'm thinking most people eat beforehand. Dart boards, 3 pool tables, lots of TVs, etc.
This (final) week's games:
Shannon vs Kerfuffle - Softball field or field T if that's in use
Hathaways (blue) vs Spartans- field R (top one)
Ballistics vs Lyell Ave- aka hangover game, field S (bottom one)
Current Rankings:
1- Shannon's team
2- Kerfuffle
3- Ballistics
4- Hathaways
5- Spartans
6- Lyell Ave
TIME: 10AM SHARP!!! on Sunday mornings and are to be completed by 11:30 at the latest. (Draft leagues follow at 11:30. Please be considerate. You can help by keeping games moving along - short half times, etc. THANKS!)
LOCATION: All games will be played at Ellison Park (unless conditions force us to move elsewhere). If in doubt of cancellation or change in location due to field conditions check the GRADA listserve, the website or the GRADA hotline. (234-TOSS). I will at least have updated one of the three! And hopefully you will be lucky enough to find it on the first try!
CONES AND SUCH:
Each team will be given a set of cones and scoreboards. You will be responsible
for them for the season and for returning them at the end. (or you will be
severely punished...I haven't figured out just how yet...) Captains are
responsible for setting up and picking up afterwards. If
you are there first please start setting up the fields. There will be 4
fields.
RULES:
Safety first. No dangerous or reckless play. Mark field hazards with a disc or notify captain or league director. Any bleeding player must leave the field until biohazards have been removed (and appropriate medical treatment pursued!) Rx eyewear only. No metal spikes (on cleats!) or around neck, in hair, etc...
4/3 guys/girls or vice versa (receiving team dictates - if both teams able to field enough).
Games will be to 15 (hard cap) or to a time cap. (soft cap at 11:15 add 2 points to highest score or game to 15 - if within 1), hard time cap at 11:25 -- finish the point - if tied, play universe point.) 1 TO per half...
Games are 7 on 7 unless a team has only 6 or 7 players, in
which case the game will be 6 on 6. Teams must have at least 6 players to begin
the game. Any team with fewer than 6 players 15 minutes after start time
automatically forfeits.
Sorry, No foot blocks in this league.
1 Pull.
a) If the disc hits and remains in-bounds or is caught in-bounds, the disc is put into play at the spot where the disc comes to rest or is caught. This includes discs coming to rest or caught in the endzone.
b) If the disc initially hits in-bounds, then becomes out-of-bounds before being touched by the receiving team, the disc is put into play at the spot on the playing field proper (i.e., excluding the end zones) nearest to where it last crossed the perimeter line before becoming out-of-bounds.
c) If the disc becomes out-of-bounds after being touched by the receiving team, the disc is put into play at the spot on the playing field nearest to where the disc last crossed the perimeter line before becoming out-of-bounds.
d) If the disc initially hits an out-of-bounds area, the receiving team has the option of putting the disc into play:
(1) at the spot on the playing field proper nearest to where the disc last crossed the perimeter line in flight; or,
(2) after signaling for a brick/middle by fully extending one hand overhead and calling “brick” before gaining possession of the disc:
(a) at the brick mark (20 YARDS) closest to the end zone the receiving team is defending; or
(b) at the spot on the long axis of the field nearest to where the disc last crossed the perimeter line in flight.
Callahan Goal is Legal: If a defender intercepts a pass in his own endzone, it is a goal for the team on defense.
Continuation is in effect. If a violation is called (pick, travel, etc.) while the disc is in the air, or the offense throws the pass after the call is made, then the disc is still live. If the offense committed the violation and does not complete the pass, it is a turnover.
Games with unrostered players will be forfeited. Additionally, once a player has played in any game for any team, that player may not play for any other team for the rest of the season.
WEATHER: Games WILL be played if rain is falling without lightning. At the first sign of lightning, any player may call a lightning delay. All players should leave the open field immediately and seek shelter, however games are not immediately cancelled. Remain off the field until no lightning is seen or heard for 10 minutes. If a game can not be completed due to lightning delay, or other serious weather, then the game will be cancelled.
Cheers! Oh yeah! Teams should do those! Especially in the spirit of co-ed!
